Basilica of the Annunciation. A church built in the 1960s over the ruins of four previous churches dating back to the first century AD.

Inside the church are the ruins of the Crusader church (Left background), Byzantine Church (Pillsrs and floor mosaics)and a cave (Grotto) that is believed to be a house and by very tenuous extrapolation/belief, the house on Mary and conception of Jesus. This is the Grotto.

Supposed ruins of Mary’s house! Hence the altar.
